February at La Monnaie

CONCERT

Romeo & Juliet

Pyotr Il’yich Tchaikovsky

Tickets

Surprise the one you love on Saint Valentine’s Day with the most romantic concert of the year. This Tchaikovsky concert begins with the Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, with the famous love theme uniting the timbres of the cor anglais and the flute, thus evoking the young lovers. As a continuation of the series begun in 2008 with La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, from season to season Carlo Rizzi reveals the wealth and complexity of the work of this great Russian composer. The concert programme on 14 February reveals very different facets. With the brilliantly descriptive music inspired by Shakespeare’s play and the heartfelt cry of the fighting Symphony No. 5, as well as the virtuoso and refined Variations on a Rococo Theme, the evening will go crescendo in brilliance and intensity.

14 February 2012 at 8pm – Bozar
